Event 1
EVENT ONE
When I signed up for this workshop I didn't know what to expect. Although, after attending I am very glad that I attended it. After searching for the building for at least 30 minutes me and a couple of friends also in the class finally found the event. When we walked through the door we were greeted by the instructor who sat us down in the hallway and we began talking about the society we live in. As we began to chat she informed us about the culture we live in today and how we are so dependent on man made products that we do not get to experience the true beauty that the world gives us. I began to realize that this was so true when I thought of what I rely on in my everyday life. I couldn't exactly name more than one thing that is not man made that I use on a daily basis. The instructor of the event was from upstate New York and in preparation for the even she went into the forest and collected anything she could find in the forest that represents nature. Then once she was done explaining to us that the world we live in is based on the majority of man made things then she told us that we needed to experience the natural aspects of life and what the earth has to offer us. When we entered the studio we found six or so different exhibits that each had boxes full of items that the instructor pulled from the forest. My favorite exhibit was the exhibit where we got to take off our shoes and walk on different textures that were pulled from the forest. There were soft and hard textures that gave your feet different feelings, which was exactly what the instructor wanted us to feel out. We went from station to station and at each one a new jewel from the forest awaited us. We were able to see honeycombs, pinecones of different shapes, bones from a deer, and even tar, and a syrup like liquid. It was very interesting what this world has to offer instead of just living our life through a cell phone 95% of the day. I would strongly recommend this event to anyone who is open to furthering their knowledge and letting this event open up their eyes to what the world has to offer. I hope that there is another event like this in the future that I can attend because it truly opened up my eyes to what the world we live in has to offer.
I also went to this event and found it super interesting. It's crazy how much we are dependent on our phones and technology without even realizing this. It was cool to spend a hour just appreciating nature. My favorite part was also when we took off our shoes, and got to experience the different textures. I liked the honeycomb too and comparing the difference between rectangles and hexagons and which we found more beautiful. I would also recommend going to this event because it was a great experience!
